World's Best Sailplane Canopy Cover/Cap

Here it is! SunShade while on the Grid.

            Protect you,

                your interior,

                    your canopy

                        and stay cooler.

EASY to put on, EASY to remove (even while in your ship).

The Platinum Series Canopy Cap is designed to be a light weight, compact reflective shade cover for use when rigging and while waiting on the grid.

The strapless design allows easy access to the cockpit during assembly and your cockpit always stays shaded and cooler.

When you are ready for launch, slip the cover off and stow it in the included storage bag, in the cockpit while you fly. It is not meant for extended use outdoors or while trailering as it won’t allow the canopy to be locked when it is on the glider.  It will keep dust off in the trailer, but not when trailering.

You no longer have a need for that Umbrella that blows away in the wind!

How to use the Platinum Series Canopy Cap:

  1. Find the care label near the center seam. This is the front of the canopy cover.

  2. Place the rear of the cover over the back of your raised canopy and hook the elastic around both rear corners.

  3. Pull the cover forward and hook the elastic around the front of the canopy and at both front corners.

  4. Straighten the center seam to align down the middle of the canopy and adjust any wrinkles along the sides until smooth.

  5. You can now raise and lower your canopy at will during set up and while on the grid. There are no inconvenient straps to get in the way!

EASY-CANOPY-COVERS is a part of Sky Sailing, Inc. Since 1959, we have been a world leader in the Sport of Soaring.

This is a project of Boyd Willat and proceeds will go toward Boyd's Contest Flying. On Boyd's 14th Birthday he soloed 23 sailplanes (including a Stemme S10-VT). Then he flew with his Big Brother Garret (3 time member of the US Junior Soaring Team and now a member of the US Soaring Team!) in his own Discus A to New Mexico. On his 16th Birthday he soloed 6 tailwheel towplanes and got his Private Glider rating. This past summer he flew in the Region 9 contest at Parowan and the Standard Class Nationals at Hobbs, NM.

In an off-field landing during the Nationals, Boyd left his 302 downloading (beeping), his Easy Platinum Canopy Cap on and headed for the Ranch House. Upon returning to the Fire Dept Police etc they thought they had a UAV, crashed on its side (wing down)! The beeping had them scared, Boyd reached in and turned it off, and all was well! Ok it does look a little alien with the silver cover.

Boyd paid for his sailplane (he has a partner) and the contests by his lineBoy salary. Sky Sailing sponsored his gas and the van! During the contests, Boyd sold 15 of these amazing Easy Platinum Canopy Caps. These covers are designed and made by one of our pilots flying out of Warner Springs!!

Boyd's 14th Birthday solo and this was his 10th of the day, the line behind him were all waiting for him!
